ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jerry Locke
The sculptures that Jerry creates bring the wild outdoors right up close and in your face. Making use of the texture, colors and contrasts found in natural stone, he successfully creates a wilderness that is soothing…and mysterious at the same time. The work is tranquil yet uncontained. The medium provides a perfect pallet for “working outside the lines”, an environment where he seems to be most comfortable.
Jerry selects each stone for its color, texture and compatibility. The stones are chiseled, shaped, and combined to seduce the light from the shadows. The day, the night, darkness and light, can all be found in his work.
As a 1979 graduate of the University of Arizona he obtained a degree in creative writing. After 40 years in the Rocky Mountains, Jerry now resides in San Antonio Texas where he is able to devote full time to coaxing light from stone.
